From our Champion's Diary
Platon is an extraordinary cosset; when only one looks him in the eyes, he sits at one's feet, and often wants to lie on one's lap, forgetting about everything, indulging in the pleasure of being scratched behind the ear. He also senses the owner's mood, behaving like a real friend, who's ready to listen to one's every problem.
When everybody is out at work, he waits patiently in his spacious doghouse. As soos as any of the hosts turns up at the front yard, Platon demands to be immediately released from his large pen. Then he hurls to welcome everybody, runs all around and jumps like crazy. It's so surprising that such a big dog can be as delicate as a feather and as cautious as an explosive specialist in relation to both adults and children. In fact, he could even be a nanny for the youngest.
At times he is timid. It happens extremely rarely. Nobody knows why sometimes he starts being afraid of bus engine sound or a new place he's just been taken to. He loves travelling, in the big trunk of his lady's car. At such times he looks around, scrutinizing everything, and examining the situation for an hour. Once he's checked that everything is OK, he springs out like a jumper and licks tenderly everyone on his path. Of course, on his own territory, he is a top qualified guardian, but only when he's not asleep.
Platon sleeps in the garage - a duvet plus boar skin, which he just loves to chew. He wakes up relatively early, and can easily wake up others with his loud barking. In the morning the lady opens up the garage hatch, and Platon, full of dignity like a prince, comes out into the front yard. He eats his breakfast there, and falls asleep right afterwards. He can sleep all day long, especially when it's hot. However, he doesn't compensate that during night, when he sleeps too. Let alone his snoring - he gives out such sounds it's hard to describe. (You could say, the house's roof jumps up at such moments in rythm of Platon's snore!).
He also have dreams. When he dreams about something bad, he "cries"; when he runs in his dream, he moves his paws while lying. At those moments it's near impossible to wake him up.
He easily adapts and gets used to daily activities. One just needs to devote some time to it, and be consistent. Then, life with such a "heavy" pet can be easy and enjoyable.
